The three trailers before this film were all horror flicks, and my wife, already worried about what was to come, asked me if this one is a horror film. I didn’t know, that’s just the way I like it, not knowing too much, if anything about the film I’m about to see.

As it turned out, there were definitely some scary bits in this one.

It’s a solid, better-than-your-average Will Smith acting experience. He’s fit, and it has to be shown, even if it is only for the portfolio of his personal trainer. So anyone who likes Mr Smith, should definitely see this one. Willow Smith is good too.

Other than that, there’s action, scary moments, a couple of (slightly strange) animal encounters, Will Smith acting including emotional and ‘losing it’ moments. The parts with other characters feel a little bit loose and out of place – not enough time is spent building these characters, as if they are not important enough to tell the story and they exist only to keep the story alive and for breaks between the main action bits. I would have liked to condense some other parts of the film, even if that meant less scary action or less Smith solo acting, to give the other characters more depth.

It’s good though, OK 3d, Will Smith is cool enough, and he has a nice dog. Reminds me a lot about 28 days later, lots of similarities here and there. And was nice to see how NY looks empty after seeing how London looks empty. I’m not sure which zombies I prefer. I don’t think they call them zombies in either of the films. But hey, call them what you want, you still have to blow their heads off to stop them walking. Although these ones are more or less running… I’m tempted to put a small spoiler right here, but I’d better just stop right here.

Hairless gremlins… It’s definitely a Christmas movie.

Rendition was in the news a lot at some point. And of course there would have to be a film about it as well. And after the film, at some point, there were news that someone (was it CIA, I can’t remember) was doing some sort of successful ‘torture’ in the US, without even taking the suspects out of the country. The next day the news was gone and forgotten. So I guess it won’t make much difference where you torture people.

I somehow got confused a couple of times during this film, but it really did have a nice structure and good acting, and Meryl Streep is spot on as usual I suppose. The story works very well and I thought it makes the point it is supposed to make, a statement of some sort. So what do YOU think about rendition?

Jamie Foxx is one of those actors who don’t need to dig very deep to find gold… In these times of uncertainty, terrorists and Muslim versions of Jehovah’s Witnesses these kind of films have started to appear more and more.

It’s a solid, pretty basic action film, or maybe a political action thriller would describe it better. Not too much relationship stuff, definitely nothing romantic that I can remember, a little bit of CSI stuff and of course nice locations. Not very original camera work, but enjoyable enough.

I liked the story, I liked the acting, I thought it was well balanced, and I must say this film received a very nice reaction from the audience, with lots of approving grunts and noises when the end credits started rolling.

Not nearly as funny as Shaun of the Dead, not entiry convincing, but one clever piece of entertaining comedy action flick! And nicely edited, Chris!

It may have the feel of a little town all over it, but then it does take place in a small village… There are some brilliant moments here, even if it is bleedingly obvious we’re not in Hollywood.

Something about this reminds me of Kenny Everett’s Bloodbath at the house of Death (which I have to find, because I really want to see it again). I might want to see Ru, Fat Boy, Run now. Although I do have the feeling these guys are going steady down hill after Shaun. At least it must’ve been fun doing the fuzz. It certainly is fun watchin’ it!

The makers of this film have seen a film or two, so perhaps there’s a couple things to spot for all sorts of film buffs… 😉 So hardly deep or even genius, but possibly enough for you to have a glued smile on your face for a couple of minutes after the credits have finished. That’s a positive review, just to make myself clear.

After a long and frustrating day at the office (well you really can’t say office when you’ve worked outdoors can you? unless you consider nature your office…but thats another story – so, on to the theatre). I was on my way to kick back and clear my messed up head with Rush Hour 3. But along came a friend and converted me to this film. I really didn’t know anything about this one so I had no pre-assumptions. And maybe that’s why it saved my day, more than Rush Hour could ever have done, I bet.
It’s about girls, boys and babies. Oh and don’t forget tits and drugs! If you are the least bit allergic to lazy pot-heads, sleazy male humour or human relationships going up and down… go see… umm.. I dunno… maybe Over the Hedge? In the end this really isn’t anything more than a boy meets a girl drama/comedy but all in all I liked this one for it’s entertainment values, I laughed out loud many times.

All the sleaziness and the other stuff was done in good humour and each and everyone got their share of laughs – so, (to make this review connect to movie history) I’ll say it has the qualities that made Chaplin movies great: You’re sometimes not quite sure whether to laugh or cry and when you laugh you(mainly) are not laughing at them but with them (and plz don’t crucify me for comparing it to Chaplin – because I really am not!). And beneath all the ganja smoke this movie maybe even tries to say something?

It was kinda funny though. And it must’ve looked awesome on paper. Brilliant script, but it just doesn’t work. Fair bit of killing and you almost get a glimpse of Monica Bellucci’s tits. But you don’.

Have you ever watched anyone play one of those first person shoot ’em ups? Well that’s what this is. So don’t bother. There’s a fair bit of killing and also a couple of unhealthy ways to use carrot.

It’s not that I didn’t like it. I was speechless. If I had a choice now, I’d choose the film was undone.

And I like Clive Owen. And the other… some Giamatti some guy… And tits. cool – if you are 12.

Have I mentioned I am a John Waters Fan? Well, A short while ago I saw this film, Hairspray. And it was just such a good film, it made me smile throughout, so much so, that my cheeks hurt like I’d been on acid for a week. probably lot less than John Waters in his life time.

This was of course the new version of Hairspray, so a lot less to do with John in all aspects. I have to re-watch the old version shortly though. The cast is brilliant, the music is perfect for a musical like this. Dancing is good, everything makes you feel happy and entertained and the film even has a message. John’s cameo was pretty funny too.

Colorful, cheerful and full of funny moments. Just what I needed that day. And John Travolta is not exactly Divine, but does the job.

I just came from a holiday in New York, where I stayed in the Dolphin hotel… The corridor of the… hmm… 15th or 12th floor (I’ve forgotten the floor already, it’s kinda irrelevant to the holiday, except that you get a better view of the brickwall from the window of a higher floor) was a lot scarier than that of the film’s 13th floor. So if the room numbers on the 13th floor start from 1400, how about the 14th floor?

I don’t know how much of the film they actually shot in hotel Pennsylvania, probably the entrance, maybe the lobby, but that’s got to be it really… still, I felt I’d been there at the scene of the film.

Sadly, the film wasn’t that good. Stephen King has never been very lucky when it comes to films. The Shining is brilliant, so is Dolores Clairborne, I enjoyed Misery, even somehow found Maximum Overdrive funny. I can even watch Christine all the way through. But he has been quite busy writing and getting films made. The film made me think there’s enough material for a short film, but then again, if I got it right, it’s based on a SHORT story… and seems to follow the structure of a short story as well, which is good enough for a feature film I suppose, but surely you need quite a lot of content for 90 minutes of scary movie.

There’s a couple of shockers, but not really that much. Samuel L. Jackson is ok, but hasn’t got much screen time. Cusack’s performance could have been better, but there’s not much to play with. I just kept thinking that if this was on telly, I’d change the channel. Even the poster is pretty dull.

I had a transformers toy about 20 years ago. I knew nothing about transformers, had never seen any comics or tv series or anything. Today I saw the film, still without any background information other than that there are these robots that transform into cars, or cars that transform into robots…

I have never really had high hopes with a Michael Bay film, but I do always expect decent action and some funny moments from him, and I was not disappointed. As a comedy it’s not that clever perhaps, but it has its fair share of one-liners and plenty of good looking action. Perhaps aimed at slightly younger audience, but I didn’t mind watching this.

From the plot you kinda get the feeling there’s a bit more story behind all the transformers’ characters, but then Mr Bay only had about 2 hours to tell us the story so I’m not complaining. Shia LaBeouf is a little bit irritating, but does a pretty good job. Megan Fox is a fox indeed.

This film makes me not want to see another movie with teenagers in it. But I would finally want to become more familiar with autobots… Maybe get my hands on the TV series or some of the other transformers films. Entertaining film, that made me smile.
